
Concessions are available subject to registration and verification by the Poetry School.
All those aged 60 and over are eligible for the middle price.
Concessions are available for 25s and under, full-time students, those in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Pension Credit or those whose sole source of income is the state retirement pension.
Please contact the office to register your eligibility for the lower concessionary rate. Proof of eligibility is only required the first time you book with us. Once verified by the Poetry School, you will be able to book online as normal for further activities for a time-limited period. Shamshad Khan was born in Leeds and now lives and works in Manchester. She trained as a biologist and currently sits part-time as a lay member for employment tribunals. Her poetry has featured on BBC Radio 3 and 4. Shamshad has established a profile for her performances working in collaboration with musicians, beatboxers and video artists.
Her poetic monologue Hard Cut and the show Megalomaniac were both directed by Mark Whitelaw (winner of the Lawrence Olivier Award 2004).
She has performed at the Barcelona Literature festival, Mumbai Khala Ghoda Festival and the Beurne conference of women live art performers. She has co-edited two anthologies of poetry for Crocus Books.
The House has accessible parking spaces nearby and a good drop-off point close to the entrance. The venue has ramps and steps installed with handrails for disabled users. There are fully equipped disabled toilets in the building that are clearly signposted and are easy to locate. For more information please contact the office.
