Consciousness and Coincidences: Writing About Liverpool

Liverpool has long been fused with poetic association, from Gerard Manley Hopkins' time here through to the success of The Liverpool Poets and the current range of poets writing in the city. You'll look at the way Liverpool has been written about and work on a number of writing exercises to suggest how the combinations of personal history, openness to different forms and both research and chance encounters in the city can make for exciting new work. Chris brings his experience of writing a poetic play for voices about London Docklands (Shad Thames, Broken Wharf) to Liverpool, his home city.

Chris will be performing Shad Thames, Broken Wharf at the Bluecoat on the evening of 4 December - for more details, visit www.thebluecoat.org.uk.
